ID Logger™
The
Osborne ID Logger is a hand-held data logger that stores user-defined databases
for the entire herd. When the ID Logger reads a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag, the data for the identified animal is immediately displayed.
New information is entered in the barn for later electronic transfer to
management software programs.
Single-entry accuracy and total availability of information means knowledge
is where it is needed... in the barn.
ID Logger Provides Practical Solutions to In-Barn Record Keeping
Collecting breeding, farrowing and other production data on an in-barn paper
record keeping system is always time consuming and error prone. Transferring the
information from cards to computer requires patience, concentration, and skill
in reading obscure hand-written records.
Information Quality
At each step in data management, information quality can be reduced. Some
producers estimate that as much as 10% of their data is faulty owing to reading
and entry errors. This undermines the value of production records and the
decisions made from them.
Paperless Recording of Production Records
These problems are solved with the e-LOG™ system for paperless data
recording and data use. e-LOG was released by Osborne in January of 1995. The e-LOG
system permits single-entry data collection with a few simple keystrokes on the
ID Logger. Paper and pencils are no longer needed. Ambiguous handwritten
notations and error-prone transcription are eliminated.
The e-LOG system combines the ID Logger with RFID tags in a totally flexible
data use and collection system that works especially well in breeding,
gestation,
and farrowing operations.
